I think my favorite Englishisms were both from the Tube--"Mind the Gap" and especially "Way Out". I remember thinking that the Brits would rarely use one word when two would do just as well.

Millennium Bridge didn't exist back when I was at LSE (and I rarely ventured into Southwark anyway) but looking at your pictures I'd probably prefer using Waterloo Bridge--which of course has the better song.

Sally, you are just a wonderful writer! I don't have anything to add to what you wrote, but you enable the reader to see, feel, smell and virtually experience your experience. Thank you!

Do you know what is currently being done about the pollution? Do you think there needs to be some sort of global regulization on pollution and how would the world go about forming this group?

Mmmm - I'm trying to imagine what Yak butter smells like.
So, I'll trade smells with you...imagine a stew of maple and birch leaves, slightly frosty, just past the crunchy stage, slightly marinated in mud.

Beautiful rows here at the end of the season, and especially magical at the turn in the river that I call the cathedral, where the cliffs hold secrets of lives past.

Loving hugs to you,
Mum
